Like any charitable effort we are always seeking funds to look after the farm and the children, but what is most important is the help of the small team of volunteers who offer their time to the orphanage.

What do we need?
We would like our volunteers to teach English as a second language to the children who live at the farm.  English language opens up many opportunities for employment in the future for children.

As a volunteer at Samrong you would be directly teaching the children, as well as supporting other teachers and supervising sessions in subjects other than English, such as Badminton, Quizzes, etc.  This would be a 5 day teaching week (or seven if you so wish – most do) for around 8 hours a day.

What will you receive for your work?
Your accommodation and food for the duration of your stay on the farm will be provided.  We have wifi so that you can stay in touch with family, maybe write us a blog post or two, or even plan the next stages of your trip because if you’re coming to Cambodia we recommend that your see as much of this beautiful country as you can.

All of our volunteers gain a huge sense of achievement at seeing the kids, who are desperate to learn, prosper from their learning.  It’s an experience never to be forgotten: teaching English whilst assisting with the running of a working farm in beautiful Cambodia…  What’s not to like?

How much will it cost? 
There is a small cost to volunteer with us, and that is from $125 per week.  Agencies who arrange this sort of experience for travellers / gap year volunteers often charge up to $700 per week and the children’s farm would see very little of that.  By dealing with us directly you can be sure that every penny goes into the schooling and the welfare of our 70+ children.

You will, of course, need to arrange transport to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  We always recommend that you spend at least one night in Phnom Penh to get acclimatised to the weather and rest.  For information on our trusted taxi, tuk tuk, and accommodation providers please see the appropriate section of our website.  Our relationships with providers have been built up over many years and we can assure you that you will be well looked after and for a reasonable fee.

Additional weeks for longer staying volunteers will be discounted.

What next?
Hopefully, having read about Samrong, you are now ready to Volunteer at this great project. No doubt you will be excited and ready to start NOW! Although it can be arranged fairly quickly, there is an application procedure to be followed, to safeguard all concerned.

The process :-

• Make initial contact with Samrong or Co-ordinator, registering interest and availability.
• Availability is checked and if available, Samrong will confirm.
• Application is received, checked and confirmation of date and placement sent back.
• Accept placement and reserve place with deposit. (US$50).
• Outstanding balance paid 1 month before, or cash on arrival at Samrong.

Throughout the process you will be guided and helped by our local and International coordinators who can assist with you numerous questions, both local and International.
